Lets start with the basics. Name, Age and where are you from?

My name is Gage Boyle and I’m 19 years old from Simi Valley, CA.

What is the local shop and scene like growing up there?

The local shop in Simi is Skatelab. I’ve been going there ever since I started skating. That’s where I spent most of my time learning. I would go there basically every day out of the week and just be there skating the park all day. Every time I went there I would have so much fun skating with the crew, doing stupid shit at the park, just being young kids that skated everyday and had fun. I was one of the youngest ones in the group and I remember all of my friends were so much better than me. My goal was to be as good as them so I just started trying new things everyday. Growing up skating with them definitely helped me learn a lot about skateboarding. I’ve been skating with the same crew ever since I was about 10 years old and I consider them as family, still skating every day with each other, just having fun.

How did you first get into skateboarding?

I got into skating when my dad showed me his board and let me push around the driveway. My dad always wanted me to get into skateboarding because that’s what he grew up doing. I was really into soccer at the time but I really wanted to learn how to skateboard instead because that was more fun than anything else. I told my parents what I wanted to do and they have always supported me with everything. That’s when I really started getting into skateboarding. For the first few months I only skated with my dad. Watching him and his brother shred the bowl at the park all day made me want to become a skateboarder like them.

What size and stye of trucks do you skate?

I skate the 149 Hollow Lights.

Do you ride em tight, loose or in the middle?

I like my trucks in the middle, not too tight or too loose.

How long so you usually skate a set for?

I try to skate them for as long as I can. I’ll skate a set anywhere from 6-8 months, maybe longer, it really depends.

Who’s your crew you usually skate with?

I usually skate with my group of friends from the park and from school. Willy Lara, Kevin Ferman, Chris Weissmann, Logan Johnson, and Victor Aceves just to name a few.

Favorite Simi Valley skater of all time?

That’s a tough one. There’s a lot of Simi legends to choose from. I’ve always looked up to Mike and Vince Capaldi, Torey Pudwill and people that rep Simi but my favorite would have to be my pops Rick. He will always be my favorite Simi Valley skateboarder.

What music gets you hyped to skate, whats heavy in the rotation right now?

I’ve always liked listening to a bunch of different genres of music when I skate. I never stick to just one style or genre. I’ll bounce back and forth between the oldies and the classics to stuff like Sabbath, Pentagram, and Earthless. Those definitely get me the most hyped to skate.

What your bev of choice?

Iced coffee for sure. Can’t go wrong!

How did this part come about? Did you set out to film a VX part or as it just filming with the homies?

I started filming this part after I graduated. I had a lot of extra time to just go out and skate with the homies and just started skating everyday trying to get clips. The only parts I put out before this one were just parts in homies full-lengths so I wanted to just focus on filming an individual part for myself. I wasn’t planning on using the footage for anything specific at first but after I showed Nate the clips I had at the time he helped turn it into a part for Thunder. I can’t thank him and everyone at Deluxe enough for doing this for me. They’ve always been the best.

Any shout outs or thanks you’s?

I just want to thank Nate, Jim, and everyone down at Deluxe for putting out this part and supporting me over the years. I’m so stoked to be a part of Deluxe and everything that they do for skateboarding. Big thanks to my family and parents, Rick and Tessie. I’m so fortunate to have them as parents and to have their support.
